It makes spooling line by yourself easy! First test, was a spinning reel. A lot of people spool spinning reels incorrectly(including myself at one time). so, this would tell me, how well it would work. I just followed the directions and adjusted the tension. The line laid perfectly.

This is simply the BEST Spooler on the market. Period.
I did not see any other spooler that has 2-way spooling (to and from between the reel and the line spool).
This function allowed me to try out multiple line with different weights on my reel, and see which one I like the best. The spooler is highly customizable which let you change the distance between reel and spool, and change the tension of spooling as well. Nice and neat!

I like everything accept that it needs modifications for spinning reels but that is easy. Also helps in the "reverse" the braided line process. Will update in February when line maintenance begins.

I am a fishing lodge owner and provide equipment when needed to my guests. I use all types of reels (open faced, spinning, and a variety of fly reels including spey and switch. The spooler is compact, easily assembled, made out of durable composite material, aluminum and portable. You can spool and unspool without a second person. It is particularly valuable when spooling a fly reel with backing before you add your fly line. You can also use a variety of sizes of spools. (See pics) The tension can be set so you line winds tightly on your reel. It also allows you to load the line in the proper direction. I would suggest one addition to the spooler. A second threaded rod with a smaller diameter would be a plus when loading spools that have a smaller hole than the current threaded rod will allow. This type of spool is common to most fly lines. I was able to make those spools work by simply using a small drill to make the spool hole larger and they worked fine. I gave it a 5 star. It is the best spooler I have come across. Hope this helps!

I am using it to spool and unspool fly line. With an Orvis fly line spool, the spool tended to slip on the drive shaft. I devised a thin wooden disk that engages the drive shaft pins and presses against the side of the spool like a clutch, and now it works perfectly for my purposes. (Other kinds of line spools have keyways in them which engage the plastic spacers provided). There is nothing else on the market quite like this. Very handy and can be carried broken down in its box. Some parts are a bit ��light duty�� but it gets the job done with lighter equipment. Don��t think it would work with heavy reels.

Works perfectly. Works better than any other one that I have tried. Had issue with 1st one received, seller promptly replaced, 2nd works perfectly. Instructions could be a little clearer. Just make sure you put the spool on with the line coming from under the bottom of the spool, if the line is coming over the top of the spool you can't put tension on the spool. The 9nly ine I have see en that had line stripping capability, just need an empty spool, or something similar.

Okay, I'm new to fishing and teaching myself. A perfect gadget for my new hobby. It worked first time out of the box flawlessly. Not sure what the negative reviews are all about. If you can read, follow pictures and take minute to think about it, you'll spool and un-spool (real word?) just like advertised. I think it's a bit pricey, but I shouldn't complain about that now. It works well, stores easily and appears well made. Recommended.

Out of the box to pulling old line off my baitcaster took about 5 mins. Everything worked smoothly and very quick. Its made out of durable material and the handle was actually nicer than my reel. It has a good solid quick clamp and held secure on my bench. I would definitely recommend this spooler.
